NUTRITIONAL PROFILE OF SPRING BARLEY VARIETIES CULTIVATED IN DIFFERENT FARMING SYSTEMS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the content of ADF, NDF, NCGD, fat and fiber of different spring barley varieties cultivated in conventional and organic farming, as well as to determine out the influence of the experimental factors on their values. The results indicated that the spring barley genotypes cultivated in conventional system registered the highest content of ADF (4.81%), NDF (13.14%) and fiber content (3.66%), while genotypes grown in organic farming reported the highest content of NCGD (89.84%) and fat content (1.87%). This study highlights the influence of genotype (G) and farming systems (S) on the spring barley seeds composition, as well as by interactions between factors. Also, based on the results obtained, the year had a significant influence for few parameters (NDF and fiber content).
