YIELD FORMATION OF QUINOA (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) IN CROPS WITH DIFFERENT DENSITIES

Abstract

The article presents the research results of yield formation of quinoa (both plant and crops) according to the seeding rate. Study was done in 2020-2023 in Ukraine, north-eastern part of the Forest-Steppe zone, with Kvartet variety. Different seeding rates (0.8; 1.2; 1.6 and 2.0 mln seed per ha) were used for sowing and crop density. The highest yield and the closest one to the biological potential of the Kvartet variety is provided by crops formed at seeding rates of 1.2 - 1.6 mln/ha. Under these conditions, a sufficient level of phytomass accumulation was observed. Crops with a seeding rate of 0.8 mln/ha had high values of harvest index, but did not provide a sufficient level of phytomass accumulation. Currently, the maximum potential yield of such crops did not exceed 2.2 t/ha. Crops with such level of density (or lower) are promising for the introduction of breeding models and growing technologies based on the use of the ability of quinoa plants to branch.
